Announcement for participants of the AFP Academic Webfolio Project
Dear participants of the AFP Academic Webfolio Project, We have developed a new website www.academicwebfolio.org and are going to switch to it from the old website www.afpwebfolio.org in the nearest time. This email will provide you with some information about the transition process.
This transition from the old website to the new one will occur on October 2, 2009. The new website www.academicwebfolio.org It is open for user testing until October 2, 2009, and after this date all peer review/Webfolio work will occur only on the new website. Now www.academicwebfolio.org has all the information from the old website (i.e. user accounts, logins, passwords and Webfolio materials) that existed on it by September 16, 2009. All users are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new website’s functions and interface during this period. Please feel free to experiment with all website functions and features in any way, as at the end of the testing period (on October 2, 2009) there will be another data migration from the old website, and all user accounts with all their information from the old website will be copied to the new website again. Thus, all the Webfolio materials that might have been lost by that date on the new website (due to creative experimenting on users’ part with their Webfolio materials :), will be restored from the old website. Reporting bugs and suggesting ideas for improving the website
As of today, we have reported to the developers 657 bugs, most of which have been already fixed, but there might be a couple of more left on the website J You can email reports about bugs or your comments and suggestions either to me (npetroukovitch@osieurope.org) or to your AFP Regional Coordinator. There is also a Forum category for reporting bugs and discussing ideas for website’s improvement: www.academicwebfolio.org/web/guest/forums/-/message_boards/category/82911
You can find the first version of the User Guide on the website in section “How to get started / Short manual”( www.academicwebfolio.org/web/guest/how_to_get_started/shortmanual ). The final version of the Guide will be produced after the testing period is over based on users’ input. I hope you will enjoy working with the new website and find it useful for your professional development and interaction with other academics. Please do not hesitate to contact your AFP Regional Office or me if you have any questions about using the the website, have encountered any problems, need a consultation or an online hands-on training (it can be conducted by AFP staff ).
